Applications are invited for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in ANRF-ARG funded research project entitled “Structural elucidation of a-Synuclein-viral RNA G-quadruplex-DDX39A interaction triad” at the laboratory of Dr. Adity Bose, Department of Chemistry, Presidency University, Kolkata.

Date, Time and Venue of Interview:

Monday, June 08^th, 2026 from 12.00 PM onwards in Department of Chemistry, Presidency University, Kolkata 700073, West Bengal, India. The interview will be conducted in ‘in-person’ mode only .

Application process: The candidate must email (i) their current CV including their contact number and (ii) name and email ID or phone number of at least one referee, who can provide feedback on their academic background, to the PI (adity.chem@presiuniv.ac.in) on or before June 3^rd, 5 PM, 2026.

On the day of the interview (June 08, 2026), the candidate must bring with them (i) hard copy of their CV and (ii) original mark sheets/grade cards for B.Sc. and M.Sc., (iii) UGC-NET scorecard/rank card/certificate of award. Two sets of self-attested xerox copies of all the original will also be required subject to verification of the originals on the day of the interview, if the candidate is selected.

Minimum Educational Qualifications Required: MSc in Chemistry (preferably Physical special) with UGC-NET qualification for PhD in Category 1/2. Candidates must have biology in Class 11-12.

Following qualifications are desirable but not mandatory:

a) Good knowledge on UV-Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy.

b) Previous hands-on experience in the above mentioned instruments.

c) Elementary idea on bio-inorganic and bio-organic chemistry.

d) Evidence of good oral and written communication skills in English through presentation.

e) Qualification in the UGC-National Eligibility Test in category 1/2.

Enrolling for PhD: The selected candidate may be allowed to enroll for Ph.D. program as per the University rules and regulations.

Duration of project: Five years (till 2031).

Tenure of Assignment: One year, subject to satisfactory performance. Can be extended till the duration of the project and/or availability of funds.

Fellowship/Salary: As per DST norms. .

Note:

1. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

2. All the terms & conditions for this recruitment will be as per the guidelines of DST, Govt. of India and Presidency University, Kolkata.

3. The above position is purely contractual and is for the duration of the project only. Selected candidates will not be entitled to claim any regular appointments/absorption in this institute.
