Applicants are invited for a walk in interview for the post of research scholar in DST-SERB funded project

The Co-Evolution of Supermassive Black Holes with Dark Matter in the Universe. '’

Minimum qualification: 55% (or CGPA 6 in a 10 point scale) in M.Sc/M.S/B.S-M.S or equivalent in Physics or Astrophysics

Desirable:

A) The applicant has to qualify either of the National Eligibility Test (JRF/LS), Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST), Graduate Aptitude Test for Engieering (GATE) or any equivalent test that qualifies as the “National Eligibility Test” as per SERB regulations.

B) The candidate has taken at least one basic astrophysics course in his/her B.Sc or M.Sc curriculum or has worked/has been working in an astrophysics/cosmology related research project and has experience with linux administration and handling of large datasets. Knowledge of C and IDL/Python programing is highly desirable.

C) Good oral and written communication skills in English.

Job description: The fellow will need to work with supercomputer simulations and multi-wavelength datasets to understand the evolutionary properties of supermassive black holes in the Universe along with their host galaxies and dark matter halos. Programing skills in IDL/C/Python will be required for the project. The fellow will have to publish the scientific findings in reputed international journals. The fellow is encouraged to set-up collaborations with other members of the astrophysics group at Presidency University as well as researchers all around the world.

Project duration: Three years or duration of grant (subject to performance)
