An appeal for enhancement of the amount of the Endowment/ Trust Funds or giving consent for merging the same with other Endowment / Trust Funds of small amounts for greater academic interest of the Presidency University, Kolkata

The Authority of the Presidency University, Kolkata intends to draw the kind attention of the Donors or theirlegal heirs / successors in respect to the Endowment/ Trust Fundsof the erstwhile Presidency College, the details of which are given in the enclosed list, for enhancement of the amount of their Endowment/ Trust Fundsor giving consent for merging the same with other Endowment / Trust Funds of small amounts for greater academic interest of the University.

It is humbly informed to them that in view of the present level of price index, prevailing rate of interest on the bank fixed deposit, as well as the trend of continued rise in price in our country, the University has to face substantial constraint to honour the purpose of the endowment with the amount of the fund, the interest on which, you may kindly appreciate, is too inadequate to meet the related expenditure.

In this scenario, the Presidency University authority has decided to make an appeal to the Donors of all such Endowment/ Trust Funds, especially to the Donors of the Endowments / Trust Funds of small amounts either for enhancing the amount of the Funds or to give their valuable consent for the consolidation of all such Fundsfor the greater academic interest of the University. However, it is worth-mentioning that the specific purpose of utilisation of the consolidated amount of such funds would be intimated to all the concerned donors / donors’ legal heirs / successors in due course and it would be ensured that the names of all such donors would be officially acknowledged while utilising the fund.

Therefore, the University Authority humbly appeals either for enhancement oftheir amount of Fund to a reasonable size so that the objective of the endowment / trust can be fulfilled by the University or alternatively they may give their kind consent for the consolidation of their Fund with other Funds with a view to enabling the University to manage the Endowment / Trust Funds smoothly.

Given the long-standing association of the Donors with Presidency, which we are eager to continue, we appeal to them to respond to the undersigned within 40 (forty) days from the date of this publication. In case no response reaches the undersigned within the aforementioned period,we presume that they have given their kind consent for consolidation of their Endowment / Trust Fund with other Endowment / Trust Funds of the University.
