Presidency University Committee against Sexual Harassment (PUCASH)
Presidency University Committee against Sexual Harassment (PUCASH) is a quasi-judicial body which aims to address complaints of sexual harrasment lodged by any student, faculty member, or staff of the university. PUCASH follows the guidelines of the "Sexual Harassment Act" (Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace: Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal Act, 2013), which has been made effective since April 23, 2013 by way of publication in the Gazette of India. We thus have a codification of the requirements that has laid down mandatory guidelines for every employer to provide a mechanism to redress grievance pertaining to workplace sexual harassment. Our primary duties involve conducting investigation of cases, and sending recommendations on basis of those investigations to the Honorable Vice-Chancellor.
All complaints are to be sent directly to the Chairperson of PUCASH. Complaints shall only be accepted in writing.
We want to emphasize that PUCASH primarily aims at a safe and healthy academic environment, where issues of gender and sexual harassment are clearly understood. We aim to integrate and sensitize members of Presidency University to promote awareness of issues of gender and sexuality.
